DANCER IN THE DARK

The pendant lamp »dancer in the dark« reveals an unexpected »soft« side of metal, a material that is commonly thought of as being cool and hard. The static, cylindric form is pried open, creating a tension-filled contrast between the metal and the soft, almost floral looking motion at the incision. The material drapes gently, evoking images of floating fabric as well as sparking an association with movement and dance. Depending on the location of the viewer, the lamp appears to be hard or soft, and as such, highlights the juxtaposition of these two contrasting qualities in a single object.
