MY WABI SABI

These porcelain vessels are part of a large series of material experiments. It is inspired by the japanese aesthetic concept of »wabi sabi«, that embraces the beauty of imperfections and decay. This notion is a very interesting contrast to our modern, industrialized society, which constantly strives to increase efficency, optimization, uniformity and perfection, and within which the term »imperfection« has a negative connotation. This project aimes to alter our perception of beauty and decay. By adding various substances into a »perfect«  mould , these substances burn into the surface of the vases and alter their appearance.
