SHADES OF DECAY
I am fascinated by the beauty of decay like oxidation and other patinas.
This series of experiments is concentrating on the phenomenon of the patina. With only a few, natural ingredients, i was able to create a broad variety of patina effects on pieces of copper, brass and phosphor bronze. By altering the quantities and the application period of the ingredients, the results in surface texture and color vary immensely, resulting in beautiful patina landscapes. These experiments reveal the »hidden beauty« that lies within the metal itself.
The results of this project are now serving as a »surface library« for my other projects.
